History of the Cracked Pots Art Show

The idea of the show debuted in 1998 in co-founder Tess Beistel’s garden where eight artists were featured. Folks took notice, and in 1999 the show moved to the gardens of Mcmenamins Kennedy School. In 2000, now becoming a wild success, the show moved to the stately and spacious grounds of McMenamins Edgefield in Troutdale where it went on to embrace over 100 reuse artists whose work consisted of at least 80% recycled/reclaimed materials.

Since the beginning, the primary goal of the Cracked Pots Art Show has always been to promote art made from materials that otherwise would have gone to the landfill.

Filled with creativity, inspiration, and merriment, the Cracked Pots Art Show
has been a much-loved and attended hallmark of all our events.
We miss it dearly—as we know so many of you do, as well—
and look forward to the opportunity to hold large-scale art shows in the future.
