About ReClaim It
ReClaim It is a nonprofit retail store where creative people of Portland can find unique materials to reuse, repair & reimagine.
We were founded when our parent organization, Cracked Pots, recognized the need for a place where materials could be rescued from immediate disposal.
Inspired by the strong belief that much of what is discarded still has value, we are passionate about reducing waste & finding creative possibility in what others see as “trash.”
ReClaim It volunteers work throughout the week cleaning & replenishing our store's vibrant inventory.
We work to reduce what ends up at the landfill & educate the public about ways to recycle & reuse. We partner with local community organizations to further these goals.
Since 2014, our volunteers have saved over 1 million pounds of reusable materials & returned them to the community.
Rescuing Reusable Materials
Through our relationships with Metro (the Portland regional government) & Recology (a resource recovery company), we are able to divert materials from the “dump” (Metro Central Transfer Station). We rescue items already thrown away, prevent them from ending up in the landfill & then clean & repair them to be returned to the community.

The Store
Donate your old clothes, shoes & textiles!
The green bin outside the store is a great option to donate your old clothes & textiles. The owner of the bin, Eco World, first makes sure to supply useable items to local schools, nonprofits & thrift stores. The rest of the unusable items like worn-out shoes & textiles scraps are recycled & repurposed into things like insulation or rubber flooring so they don’t end up in the landfill. That’s a win-win-win situation for you, us & the environment!
Eco World accepts: textiles & fabric scraps, clothing, shoes, backpacks, belts, hats, purses, sheets, towels & blankets. They will gladly accept items that have holes or stains—just avoid items that are wet or moldy.
