GLEAN Artists in Residence
These five artists have created bodies of work from materials gleaned at the Metro Central Transfer Station in Portland, OR. Their artwork will be on display at the 2025/26 GLEAN exhibition.
Our Programs
What We Do
REUSE
Our goal is to reduce the number of items that end their journey at the landfill and raise awareness about creative reuse. Through our partnership with Recology, we gather materials from the Metro Central Transfer Station, including wood, metal, and vintage goods. We train our volunteers to collect items you can reuse in your home, garden, or creative projects.
REPAIR
Much of what we recover from the Metro Central Transfer Station needs only a little TLC to reenter the home or garden. Volunteers clean and repair items in the store to save pieces for future use. Need a special piece of metal, wood, or wire? We’re likely to have it, along with a few items you didn't know you needed!
REIMAGINE
To us, nothing is junk. Each piece we glean, repair, or save can be used creatively for practical or artistic purposes. We love to collaborate with our neighbors in the thriving North Portland community. Have a creative bent yourself? Apply to show at one of our many art shows or events. Connect with us here.
